The 2006 SSAD Tourney was held at Greenville, SC where we attracted 72
players (4 teams) and 89 fans under lovely, hot weather (High 80's) on June 16 &
17, 2006.
Carolinas Athletic Association for the Deaf (CAAD) dominated the "if
necessary" championship game by defeating Greater Tampa Bay Association for the
Deaf (GTBAD) Southeast Fusion by the score of 40 to 26. The Southeast Fusion
team gave up more than 25 walks which killed their own team in spite of
replacing 5 pitchers.
The Most Valuable Player was given to Jeff Cooley whom his father won the
SSAD 2006 Hall of Fame. The other 2 teams were Southwest Florida Assoc. for the
Deaf (3rd place) and Greenville Deaf Club (last place). And yet, Greenville Deaf
Club won 3rd straight for Team Sportsmanship plaque. CAAD Christopher Buzzo won
the highest batting average while the CAAD left fielder Aundrey Ross won the
Golden Glove.
Southwest Florida Association for the Deaf will be hosting next year's
tourney at Fort Meyers, Florida from June 7th to 10th, 2007.
